1. Make sure the furnace wasn’t switched off

There should be an ON / OFF switch near the furnace. Make sure this switch is set to ON.

2. Make sure that the thermostat is set to ‘HEAT’

If the thermostat is set to ‘COOL’, this could be the source of your furnace problems.

3. Check that the thermostat batteries aren’t dead

If the batteries are dead, the thermostat will not communicate with the furnace.

4. Ensure that the furnace filter is clean

5. Make sure that the exterior pipes and vents are not obstructed

If the outdoor unit is obstructed, this can cause furnace failure.
