Eligibility
To qualify for a heat pump rebate, you must:
- Own the home where the heat pump will be installed. Where an owner has tenants, the owner must apply.
- Be an Enbridge Gas customer with an active account and primarily heat your home with a natural gas furnace or boiler OR be connected to the Ontario electricity grid and heat your home electrically.
- Live in a single detached, semi-detached, row house, townhome, or mobile home on a permanent foundation. New build homes do not qualify (i.e. homes that have been occupied for six months or less).

Retrofits that DO NOT require a home energy assessment:
- Ground Source Heat Pumps
- Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pumps
- Solar Panels and Battery Storage
- Smart Thermostats
Retrofits that require a home energy assessment:
- Heat Pump Water Heaters
- Windows & Doors
- Insulation (attic, wall foundation, exposed floor)
- Air Sealing
How to Apply for the Home Renovation Savings Program
- Confirm Your Eligibility: Complete this short form to confirm your eligibility and to receive a list of participating HVAC contractors, such as Able Air. They will help you choose the best heat pump for your home.
- Complete Upgrades: Contact Able Air to install your heat pump.
Receive Your Rebate: The team at Able Air will submit all required documents on your behalf. Once your application is approved, you’ll receive your rebate.
Canada Greener Homes Loan
The Canada Greener Homes Loan is an interest-free financing program designed to help Canadian homeowners make energy-efficient upgrades. With access to unsecured loans ranging from $5,000 to $40,000, repayable over 10 years, it’s never been easier to improve your home’s energy efficiency.
Eligibility
To qualify for the loan, you must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be Canadian residents.
- The loan is available for owner-occupied single-family homes, townhouses, and semi-detached homes. Rental or vacation properties are not eligible.
- A certified energy advisor must assess your home’s energy efficiency before the retrofit begins. They will provide upgrade recommendations and help determine the loan amount.
- All retrofits must follow program guidelines, including using approved contractors.

- Review Loan Options: Based on the energy assessment, you can determine the loan amount you need.
- Prepare Documentation: Gather documents such as proof of residence, property details, and the energy assessment report.
- Submit Your Application: Apply online or through your local government office with the necessary documents.
- Await Approval: Once your application is approved, you’ll receive the funds to start your home upgrades.

Save on Energy Retrofit Program
The Save on Energy Retrofit Program helps businesses lower energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint by upgrading to more efficient equipment. It offers financial incentives through two main streams: the Custom Stream for large, complex projects, and the Prescriptive Stream for common upgrades like lighting, HVAC, and manufacturing equipment. Additional incentives are available for greenhouse lighting and solar energy systems. Eligible participants include commercial, industrial, institutional, multi-family, and agricultural facility owners or lessees (with owner consent). Projects must show measurable reductions in electricity use, such as through lighting controls, HVAC redesigns, or custom retrofits. Save on Energy Peak Perks™ Program
The Peak Perks™ program is a Save on Energy initiative that rewards Ontario residents and small businesses for reducing electricity usage during summer peak demand periods. By enrolling, participants receive a $75 virtual prepaid Mastercard® and an additional $20 each year they remain in the program. The program uses smart thermostats to make small, brief temperature adjustments (no more than two degrees Celsius) during peak demand events, which happen on weekdays for up to three hours, up to ten times between June and September. Participants are notified before each event and can easily opt out at any time through their thermostat provider’s app or by manually adjusting the thermostat. The thermostat will also pre-cool the space before an event to maintain comfort and return to its original setting afterward.
